Computer Controlled, Optical High Speed Extensometer

This Computer Controlled, Optical High Speed Extensometer Model 200XH converts the distance between two illuminated and contrasting gauge marks of a tension test sample into

an analog measurement signal directly proportional to strain. Operating in the frequency range from 0 to 250kHz makes the Model 200XH ideal for high-strain-rate testing.

Selecting from a variety of standard lens units, the system features a gauge mark displacement measurement range of 1 to 500 mm, a working distance of 200 to 6000 mm, and a resolution of 0.01% of measurement range measured at a bandwidth of 100Hz.

New regulations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, under the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 201 Occupant Protection in Interior Impact require mandatory

testing of vehicle interior components to characterize their energy-absorbing properties. The Model 200XH is especially suited to perform this type of high-rate testing on these materials. The system can also be used in other applications such as tensile testing on metals, ceramics, composites, plastics and biomaterials, crack propagation, high-strain-rate deformation, high temperature tests (3200°C), long term creep tests, and fracture and fatigue testing.
